400 Rabbits Pin-

Size: Default Title

The story of the 400 Rabbits is a folk tale from Mexica mythology about a group of divine rabbits who were the children of the Aztec goddess Mayahuel and the god Patecatl. The rabbits, also known as the Centzon Totochtin ("four-hundred rabbits" in Nahuatl), were tasked with guarding Mayahuel's pulque, the fermented sap of the agave plant. However, the rabbits became drunk on their mother's milk and instead of guarding the spirits, they drank them all and partied. The Aztecs believed that the number 400 represented infinity, and that the rabbits represented the endless personalities of the gods or the characters a person might exhibit when intoxicated. The phrase "they were as drunk as 400 rabbits" is still used today to describe someone who is very drunk.
